FRANKLIN M. GOODRICH, Company "B"
Franklin Goodrich was the son of Nelson Goodrich, who also served in Company "B" of the 12th West Virginia Infantry, and Eliza Ann Mayhall. Nelson's brother, Nathan Goodrich, and Nathan's son, Timothy, were in the same company. All four men were captured at Winchester on June 15, 1863, and spent time as POWs. They were discharged from the service when the company mustered out on June 16, 1865.
It is not known how long it took the men to get home to Marshall County after they were mustered out at Richmond, Va. on June 16, 1865. But less than a month later, Franklin Goodrich, age 21, died on July 12, 1865. He is buried at Graysville Cemetery, Marshall County.
