Kathryn, born about 1910, is found with her family on Gravel Road, in Derry, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in the 1930 Federal Census. Her father, Mike, 58, born in Czechoslovakia, immigrated in 1901, and was a foreman in the coke works. His wife was also born in Czechoslovakia, but Mike was a widower in 1930. His children were Steve, Joseph, Catharine and Mary, all born in Pennsylvania.

At the time of the 1940 census, Kathryn, 30, a Private Duty Nurse, was a "Roomer" at 906 Center Street, Wilkinsburg Borough, Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County. The record indicates that in 1935 she had resided in Derry, Westmoreland County.

Kathryn's brother, Joseph Raymond Zsembik, 84, a former employee of Torrance State Hospital, died in Blairsville, Derry Twp., Westmoreland County, in 1992. According to his obituary, his mother's name was also Kathryn, and additional siblings were Ann and Michael.

Siblings, Kathryn, Michael, Joseph, Ann and Mary were all deceased when brother, Stephen Zsembik, died in Derry in October 2002 at the age of 100. Gleaned from his obituary was the fact that the maiden name of their mother was Michnya. Anna, married name Condrick, was born in 1905, and died in 1986 in Westmoreland County. Mary, married named Cuchal, was born in 1911 and died in Florida in 1993.

The date of death of nurse, Kathryn Zsembik, is not known, but she never married.
