Class of 1911
Mary F. Young was born about 1890 in New Britain, Connecticut. Her father, probably Joseph, was French Canadian and her mother, probably Catherine E., was born in Connecticut. Mary had a sister, Isadora, born about 1895, also a nurse, and was single and working in Pittsburgh in 1940.
Mary married Edwin Stanton Flower, the son of William (adopted father) and Lyda/Lydia (Warner) Flower. They resided in McKeesport, possibly Brownsville, and also at 319 McClelland Drive in Pittsburgh.
At the time of the 1930 Federal Census, Edwin and Mary's children were Edwin J., 16; Rosemary, 14; Ruth F., 12, and Jane E., 8.
Daughter, Rosemary, married Michael A. Hamrock in 1939. Rosemary, born October 18, 1915, died June 30, 1940. (Michael married Neva J. Black in November 1941.) Daughter, Ruth Flower, married Edsel Bishop in 1942.
On July 24, 1953, son, Edwin J., age 40, drowned when his rowboat overturned at Canadota Lake in Crawford County.
Edwin Stanton Flower, a retired office manager for National Mine Service, died in a nursing home in Roanoke, Virginia on February 28, 1967. His wife was deceased at the time. They are buried at Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Pleasant Hills, Allegheny County. Mary's date of death is unknown.
