Class of 1926
Leonard Yost was probably the son of August Frank Yost and Mary Lehmann of Lacrosse, Wisconsin. August died April 7, 1926 in Lacrosse. In addition to Leonard, they had three other sons, Louis G. Lehmann, Arthur Anthony Yost, and George Yost. The father's obituary indicated that Leonard was residing in Chicago. Perhaps this was an error because he was living in Pittsburgh, if this is the correct family.
At the time of the 1930 Federal census, Leonard Yost, a hospital nurse, and his wife, Bernice, both 27, married 3 years, were residing on Negley Avenue, Pittsburgh. Leonard was born in Wisconsin and so were his parents, supposedly. (His mother was probably born in Minnesota.) Bernice was born in "Poland-Warsaw" and her parents in "Russia-Warsaw."
A Leonard E. Yost, born about 1903 in Wisconsin, divorced, was living in Cleveland and working as an automobile salesman in 1940. The census indicates that in 1935 he had resided in Finleyville, Washington County, Pennsylvania. A Bernice Yost, born in 1903 in Poland, married but no husband listed, was the operator of a domestic coal mine in Finleyville, Washington County, at the time of the 1940 census.
This Leonard Yost might be the man of that name who was born on September 20, 1902, and died in Cleveland on October 25, 1963.
