MARTHA YOCHMAN GARVEY

Class of 1940

Martha Marie Yochman was born at Youngstown, Mahonning County, Ohio on January 31, 1919. Her parents were John G. and Mary M. Yochman, and the father was deceased before 1940. The 1940 Census indicates that her home was in Diamond, Mahonning County.

At the time of her marriage, Martha was residing at Diamond, but she and her husband, Thomas Andrew Garvey, went to White Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier County, West Virginia to get married on June 2, 1944. Thomas was born in Chicago and still resided there.

Martha was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Reserves, and her husband was a 1st Lieutenant, according to the cemetery burial records. Since there was a military hospital at White Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier County, West Virginia during World War II, it seems likely that they met there.

Martha M. Garvey died in July 9, 1995. Last known address: Albuquerque, Bernalillo, New Mexico. Her husband, Thomas, died October 20, 1982, also in New Mexico. They are buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
