OBITUARY--- Glenview Announcements (IL) - Thursday, February 17, 2005 - Meta Stoddard, 85, formerly of Glenview, died Feb. 4 in her home in Montgomery, Texas. - Mrs. Stoddard was born Aug. 3, 1919 in Pennsylvania. She graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh and joined the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She met her husband, Byron, with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, while they were both serving in Italy. She continued her career in nursing both as head of Nursing at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest and as Intensive Care Unit nurse at Rosewood Hospital in Houston. - She was president of the Women's Association at Glenview Community Church. She lived in Glenview for 20 years. - Survivors include a son, John Stoddard of Palm Springs, Calif. and Seattle; a daughter, Linda (Mark) Leonard; and two grandsons, Graham and Andrew of Henderson Harbor, N.Y. - In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Tom. - Services were private.

Meta B., an Army 2nd Lieutenant, and her husband, an Army Major, are buried at the Houston National Cemetery, Harris County, Texas.
