Marian Whiter was born in Texas about 1917-18. At the time of the Federal Census of 1940, she was living at the Nurses' Home at St. Francis, and the record indicated she had been a resident of Akron, Summit County, Ohio in 1935. In 1930, she was in Akron with her parents Blaine, born in New York, and Margaret (Dietrich), born in West Virginia. Marian had a sister Polly, age 9, born in Ohio.
Marion L. Whiter, 34, married Earl G. Borden, 33, on November 8, 1951 in Summit County, Ohio.
Earl G. Borden, born October 10, 1917, died February 1, 2001 in Summit County, Ohio. Evidently, Marion was his first wife and after she died, he married two more times. The death date for Marion has not been located.
HUSBAND'S OBITUARY--- Akron Beacon Journal (OH) - Saturday, February 3, 2001 - Earl G. Borden, 83, loving husband, father, and grandfather, a resident of Middlebury Manor, went home to be with his Lord on Feb. 1, 2001, after a long illness. His love, smile, and laughter will be greatly missed by all. - Earl lived in Akron most of his life, and was employed by Akron City Hospital for six years, Cooks Hardware in Kenmore for 13 years, and attended the Akron Blind Center for five years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 3410. - Preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, and wives, Marion and Carrie, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ethelreda; brother, Orley J. (Mary) of New York; devoted daughter, Mary (Terry) Porter of Ravenna; son, Joseph (Sandra) of California; stepsons, Leonard Borden and Leroy Vandersall; stepdaughters, Barbara (Joe) Faris of Westlake, Kaye (Fred) Owen, Eileen Borden, Gloria (Chuck) Beal, all of Akron, Bertha Swartz, Arlene (Kenny) Fox, both of Florida; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. - Funeral services will be held Monday, 9:30 a.m., at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd., and at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home, where Knights of Columbus Council 3410 will recite the Rosary at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church of Kenmore or the Akron Blind Center.
