MARY LOUISE WHITE LOORAM

Class of 1937

Mary Louise White, born September 12, 1915, was the daughter of John Francis White and Iona Askey, both born in Pennsylvania. Her siblings were John Jr., Gerald, Amelia and Kathleen.

In the 1940 census, Mary Louise was a graduate nurse working at Warren State Mental Hospital, North Warren, Pennsylvania. The record indicates she had been living in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County in 1935, at which time she would have been a student nurse at St. Francis.

Mary Louise served in the Army Nurse Corps and was a Captain upon discharge, which was sometime after her mother's death in 1951. At that time, she was unmarried and in the Nurse Corps. When her father died a little more than two years later, she was married and living in Long Island, New York. Her husband was John Looram.

At some point, the Loorams moved to Los Angeles County, California. John Loram, a resident of Northridge, died in October 1984. Mary Louise died on October 20, 1997. A death notice found online says, "Mary Louise Looram, 82, of Northridge, retired registered nurse for West Valley Convalescent Hospital. Bastian & Perrott Mortuary, Northridge."
