Marianne Whalen's parents were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Whalen of the North Side, Pittsburgh. She married Lt. William Hampton, III in June 1964. Lt. Hampton, from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, was in the Army, stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. [The illegible news article is the only one found.]

MOTHER'S OBITUARY--- Catherine Cecilia Whalen, 91, of Mulberry Square, Punxsutawney, PA formerly of Pittsburgh, PA died Monday, August 6, 2001. She was born August 1, 1910 in Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter of the late John and Katherine (Filak) Hlebec. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Whalen. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Birch and by one brother, John Hlebec. She is survived by daughter, Marianne S. Hampton of Punxsutawney, PA and son, Thomas J. Whalen of Pittsburgh, PA; by sisters Frances Momper and Helen Searborough, both of Pittsburgh, PA and Anne Scarborough of Philadelphia, PA; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survived her. Relatives and friends will be received at the RICHARD L. FAIT FUNERAL HOME, 117 North Jefferson St., on Tues., August 7, 2001, from 7-9 pm. Mass of celebration will be held at 11 am, Wed., August 8, 2001 at SS. Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church, Punxsutawney, PA. Burial service will be Thurs., August 9, 2001 at 12 pm in St. Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery, 4000 Mt. Troy Rd., Pittsburgh, PA Memorial contributions can be made to Punxsutawney Home Health, Punxsutawney, PA or to the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh, PA.
