SR. VIRGINIA MARY WENZEL, OSF - On Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, beloved daughter of J. Charles and Josephine Wenzel; sister of Sr. Virginia Wenzel OSF and the late Charles Wenzel, Marian Giel & Martha Wenzel. Several nieces & nephews. Sr. Virginia Mary began her ministry in the congregation as an Elementary School teacher, and after 3 years was sent to the School of Nursing at St. Francis Hospital. For 25 years, sister worked as a staff nurse, head nurse and finally supervisor of the Pediatric Department. Then she was transferred to St. Francis Hospital in New Castle, where she served as an Instructor in the School of Nursing, Administrator, and in the Pastoral Care Department for 38 years. She returned to Mr. Alvernia in 2001 and joined her sisters in prayer ministry until the time of her death. Sister Virginia Mary will be remembered for her love of life, sense of humor and her kind, gentle spirit. Visitation at the MT. ALVERNIA MOTHERHOUSE CHAPEL, 146 Hawthorne Rd., Millvale, Sunday 2-8 P.M., Monday 2 PM until the time of Funeral Mass at 5 P.M.
