OBITUARY: Dorothy Marie Rotte, 77 of Winter Park, Florida passed away July 30, 2018. Dottie was born May 21, 1941 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania to Edward John Wanowicz and Dorothy Helen Kozlowski. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1959 and then attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1962. She worked for several years in cardiac care before moving to Florida in 1975 with her then husband Harold "Duke" Rotte and their only child, a daughter, Terri (Guitton).

Dottie worked as the head pediatric nurse at Dr. Spinelli's office in Winter Park, Florida for 22 years before moving to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1999. She worked her last 7 years as an on call nurse at All Children's Hospital before retiring in 2006 to take on her most coveted role, that as a grandmother, or Mimi, as she was lovingly called from then on. Dottie moved back to Orlando shortly before her first grandson, Tristan, was born and moved into the garage apartment at the home of her daughter and son in law, Frederic. She was blessed with two more grandchildren in 2009 and 2010, with the births of Esme and Amelie. Dottie was a hands on grandmother and loved being a daily part of her family's life.

Dottie was an avid bowler and was on a league at Aloma Bowl where she enjoyed bowling twice a week and lunching with the ladies. She also looked forward to her annual trip to Las Vegas with her sister and friends. She attended just about every sporting event, school event or recital that her grandchildren participated in, she was their biggest fan and cheerleader. Dottie was a parishioner at St. Margaret Mary Catholic in Winter Park.

Dottie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer in December 2011. She strongly fought and battled the disease and never let it interfere with her day to day life. She rarely missed her bowling outing, continued to travel and spend quality time with those who meant most to her. Most people were probably unaware of the seriousness of her illness or prognosis (she outlived the statistics by 4 years).

Dottie is survived by her sister Barbara Springer, daughter Terri (Guitton), son in law Frederic Guitton, grandson Tristan, grandaughters Esme and Amelie, niece Lindsey (Johnson), and nephew Donald Edwin Springer III.

There will be a Celebration of life at the family's home on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 4 - 8 PM; 640 Arjay Way, Winter Park, Florida 32789
