Catherine Walker, born July 6, 1924, was the daughter of Frank and Sophie (Bittner) Walker, both born in Pittsburgh, and residents of Allison Park, Allegheny County.

Catherine was a nurse, age 22, when she married Cody H. Grundy, 22, born in Ferndale, Arkansas. The marriage took place at Glenshaw, Allegheny County, on August 21, 1946.

While a student nurse at St. Francis during World War II, Catherine was in the Cadet Nurse Corps, beginning July 1, 1943, and ending February 26, 1946.

During World War II, Cody H. Grundy was a POW at Hoten Camp,in Manchuria. He served in the Army Coast Artillery Corps from July 21, 1941 through January 26, 1946. He was a POW from May 7, 1942 until October 15, 1945.

Catherine and her husband moved to California. Cody H. Grundy died February 5, 1977 at South San Francisco, San Mateo County. Catherine's death occurred there on December 30, 1997.
