Fanny E. Vlahovich, born on April 12, 1908, died on August 24, 1992. Last Residence, Lanham, Prince George's County, Maryland. According to the St. Francis Alumni records, she retired as a Lt. Colonel in the U. S. Army. At one point, she was stationed in Hawaii and is named in City Directories there in the 1950s.
Fanny attended high school at Pittsburgh Academy, Wood Street, Pittsburgh. Her parents were Joseph and Anna (Sveb) Vlahovich. Anna died May 2, 1918, and is buried at St. Marys Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
The 1930 and 1940 census records indicate that "Fannie" lived in West View Borough, Allegheny County, with father, Joseph Vlahovich, and sisters, Annie, Josephine, and Marie. Joseph was born in Yugoslavia and his daughters in Pennsylvania. Joseph died on January 30, 1964.
Joseph Vlahovich became a Naturalized Citizen. In his application, he lists his four daughters, and Fanny was "Elizabeth" born April 12, 1908.
Neither Fanny nor her sisters ever married. Sister, Josephine, was also a nurse - St. Francis Class of 1939 - and she served in the US Army during World War II. She was born May 16, 1910 and died April 8, 1999. Marie died February 29, 2000, and Anna died in November 1978. Fanny and her father are buried at St. Marys Cemetery. The sisters might also be buried there but are not included in an online list.
