JOSEPHINE VLAHOVICH

Josephine Vlahovich, the sister of Fanny E. Vlahovich, Class of 1933, was born on May 16, 1910, and died in Pittsburgh on April 8, 1999. She is named as a nurse who served in some capacity during World War II.

Josephine's parents were Joseph and Anna (Sveb) Vlahovich. Anna died May 2, 1918, and is buried at St. Marys Cemetery, Pittsburgh.

The 1930 and 1940 census records indicate that Josephine lived in West View Borough, Allegheny County, with father, Joseph Vlahovich, and sisters, Annie, Fanny, and Marie. Joseph was born in Yugoslavia and his daughters in Pennsylvania.

Joseph Vlahovich became a Naturalized Citizen and his four daughters are named. He died on January 30, 1964.

Neither Josephine nor her sisters ever married. Sister, Fanny, retired from the US Army as a Lt. Colonel and her death occurred on August 24, 1992. Marie died February 29, 2000, and Anna died in November 1978. Fanny and her father are buried at St. Marys Cemetery. Anna, Marie and Josephine might also be buried there but are not included in an online list.
