Dolores Van Scyoc was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II, while a student nurse at St. Francis. Her membership card indicates that she was a resident of Proctor, Marshall County, West Virginia.
OBITUARY--- Obituary -- Mary "Dolores" Mason, 70, of Proctor, formerly of St. Joseph Settlement, died Tuesday, January 13, 1998, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale. She was a retired supervising nurse for Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Glen Dale, and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Moundsville. She was preceded in death by two sons, David Ray Mason and Mark Kenneth Mason; her parents, Leslie and Philomenia Schaffer Van Scyoc; a brother; a sister. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth; a son, Bill of Glen Easton; two daughters, Shirley Koontz and Elaine Henderson, both of Moundsville; a brother, Bernard Van Scyoc of Moundsville; two sisters, Frances Coakley of Painesville, Ohio, and Rose Ann Minor of Akron, Ohio; eight grandchildren. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. Friday until time of services at 1:30 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville. Rosary devotions at 7 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Bowman Ridge Community Center. [Wheeling Intelligencer & News-Register (WV)]
