OBITUARY: Maj. Christine M. Teufel retired Army nurse

Retired Maj. Christine M. Teufel, 74, of 916 W. North St. died Sunday in Carlisle Hospital.

She was an Army nurse, having served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. She was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 101, a member and secretary of the Veterans of Vietnam War, Chapter 26, and a member of VFW Post 477 and the Retired Officers Nursing Association.

Surviving are three sisters, Irene Lovey Bischoff of Pittsburgh, and Romayne A. and Mary B. both of Pompano Beach, Fla.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Carlisle Barracks Post Chapel by the chaplain, Maj. Thomas Trepanier. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Twp.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 8.

Note: Christine's burial card indicates she was born on June 9, 1913, and served in Korea and Vietnam. During WWII, while a student nurse, she served in the U.S., World War II Cadet Nursing Corps.
