URSULA SUNAL SERENCO

Class of 1917

Ursula Christine Sunal was born about 1894-1896 in Czechoslovakia. She immigrated to the United States in 1911 and became a Naturalized Citizen in 1918, according to the 1920 Federal Census, at which time Ursula was married.

Ursula C. Sunal, 24, born in Austria, married George Serencho, 27, born in Duquesne, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Wendal (Vendelinus) Sunal and Christina Sivak, according to her marriage record, and George was the son of George and Mary (Sabak) Serencho. The marriage took place in Cuyahoga County, Ohio on July 6, 1918. George was a machinist at the time of their marriage, but no occupation was given for Ursula.

At the time of her graduation from the school of nursing in 1917, Ursula was a resident of Zelienople, Butler County, Pennsylvania. There were a number of Sunal family members there, and newspaper articles indicate they were affiliated with Jehovah's Witness Church.

In 1930 and 1940, the Serenchos (also Serenco) were living at 1108 Crawford Avenue, Duquesne, Allegheny County, with their daughter, Ursula. In 1940, Ursula's mother, 83, was living with them.

George Serenco died November 29, 1956 in Dade County, Florida. Ursula died there on October 19, 1971.

DAUGHTER'S OBITUARY--- URSULA M. SHERRY, 85, of Holiday, died Thursday (May 5, 2005) in Gulfside Regional Hospice in New Port Richey (FL). Born in Duquesne, Pa., she came here from Miami. She was a graduate of Gilead Bible School, was a missionary in Chile for seven years and was a self-employed tax accountant. She was a Jehovah's Witness. There are no known immediate survivors.
