OBITUARY
CONNEAUT - Constance E. (Connie) Corbitt, age 69, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2007, at her home.
She was born Dec. 14, 1937, in Hopewell Township, Pa., the daughter of the late Amerigo and Josephine (Augustovski) Stevens. Mrs. Corbitt was a graduate of Aliquippa High School, Aliquippa, Pa., attended St. Francis General Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute, Pittsburgh, Pa., and received her B.S.N. in 1984 from the Erie Institute of Nursing at Villa Maria College in Erie, Pa. On July 9, 1960, she married James T. Corbitt.
Mrs. Corbitt was a retired Registered Nurse and had been employed at Ashtabula County Medical Center as staff nurse from 1958 to 1962, Brown Memorial Hospital from 1962 to 1989, as staff nurse-shift supervisor, head nurse, ICU/CCU, education coordinator, emergency paramedic program coordinator and director of nursing services. She also worked in an advisory capacity for Inn-Conneaut Health Center, Conneaut and Anderson Medical Services.
She was a charter member of Eta Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and also held memberships in Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #413, St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, and N. Kingsville Garden Club. She volunteered with the March of Dimes and the Salvation Army, and was a former member of the Conneaut Board of Health, St. Mary/St. Frances Cabrini Garden Club, White Veil Ministries, and Hearts of Hope. She was a former member of the Advisory Board-Allied Heath at Youngstown State University, the Advisory Board of Knoedler School of Practical Nursing, Jefferson, Ohio, the Advisory Board of Nursing at Kent State University Ashtabula Campus, and the Planning Committee of Lake Area Health Education. Mrs. Corbitt was recognized in 1989 by Lake Area Health Education Center for Outstanding contribution and leadership to the field of Continuing Health Education in the Northeastern Ohio Area.
After retiring, she enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, James; daughter, Nancy I. (Mike) Van Norman of Conneaut; two sons, Scott S. (Vicki) Corbitt of Albion, Pa. and Michael J. (Lisa S.) Corbitt of N. Kingsville; brother, Andre Stevens of Waynesburg, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jayme Lyn Corbitt, in 1973; and her sister, Rosemary Krizan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 480 State St., Conneaut, with the Rev. John R. Summers, as celebrant. Burial will follow in East Conneaut Cemetery.
Friends may be received for Calling Hours from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut. Catholic Daughters of the Americas will conduct services at 5:30 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hearts of Hope. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home and at the Church.
