ANNE C. SKOWRONEK WEBER

Class of 1929

Anne C. Skowronek, born in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania on March 9, 1903, was the daughter of John Skowronek, a coal miner, and his wife, Josephine Trutek, both born in Austrain Poland (Galicia). They immigrated in the 1890s and became naturalized citizens.

John Skowronek, age 50, committed "suicide by hanging" on November 1, 1917 in Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County. Josephine Skowronek died in 1938. They are buried at Polish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

In 1920, Anne lived in East Huntington, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania with her widowed mother and her siblings, Stanley, Walter, Agnes, John and Josephine. Older siblings, found in the 1900 census, were Mary, Antonia, both born in Poland, and Alexander. Antonia died in 1911.

At the time of the 1940 Federal Census, Anne, 37, was working as a private duty nurse at a hospital.

She married Herbert F. Weber, a clerk, born March 6, 1905 to Nickolas and Mary A. Weber. He was a resident of Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania. She was 41 when the marriage took place in Pittsburgh on February 10, 1945.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Feb 15, 1945---MORNING CEREMONY - The marriage of Miss Ann Christine Skowronek of South Pacific Avenue and Herbert Francis Weber of Sharpsburg, Pa., took place last Saturday morning in St. Lawrence's Church with the Reverend F. O'Brien officiating. - The bride wore and ocean green suit with brown accessories and an orchid corsage. She carried a prayer book. Miss Margaret Haberkorn, as maid of honor, wore a gray suit with blue accessories and a corsage of gardenias. Wilfred Meyers of Etna was best man. - A breakfast in the Presidential room of the Roosevelt Hotel followed the ceremony. - After a wedding trip to Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Weber will live in South Pacific Avenue.

Margaret Haberkorn graduated in the St. Francis Class of 1925. She and Anne were living at the same residence at the time of the 1940 census.

Herbert F. Weber died in October 1970. Anne died in March 1980.
