Helen S. Treacy, 85, of Scottdale, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at her residence at Woodcrest Assisted Living.

She was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Owensdale, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Siwula Sefcheck.

Mrs. Treacy was a graduate of the former Scottdale High School, Class of 1941, and St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh. During her life, Helen never missed her annual class reunion at St. Francis. Prior to her retirement in 1983, she worked as a registered nurse at Frick Hospital for more than 30 years. She enjoyed playing bingo and bowling and was a member of various area bowling leagues. She was a member of Forty Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Trauger, and the Rosary Society of St. Joseph Parish in Everson.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Treacy, on Jan. 9, 1982; and the following brothers and sisters: Peter, Andrew and Walter Sefcheck, Agnes Marchewka and Dorothy Hrimnak.

She is survived by a son, John Treacy and his wife, Sue, of Conneaut Lake; a daughter, Patty White and her husband, Dale, of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren, Jenny, John and Michael Treacy, and Brent and Patrick White; the following brother and sisters: Joseph Sefcheck and his wife, Marge, of Johnstown, Elizabeth Zimmerman, of Pittsburgh, and Bridget Marchewka, of Connellsville; her sisters-in-law, Mary Sefcheck, of Everson, and Ethel Tracy, of United; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, where a blessing service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Forty Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Trauger, with the Rev. Monsignor Michael Matusak as celebrant. Interment will follow in Forty Martyrs Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Forty Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, RD3, Latrobe, PA 15650. The family of Helen would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Woodcrest Assisted Living and Medi Home Health and Hospice.
