Obituary of Ann E. Rokicsak Goodrich


A Funeral Mass for Ann E. Goodrich, 100, Troup will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 14 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Whitehouse with Father Augustine Tharappral officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm, Monday, February 13 at the Cottle Funeral Home with Deacon Ruben Natera officiating.

Mrs. Goodrich died Friday, February 10, 2012, at Life Care Center in Plano. She was born December 28, 1911, in Tunnelton, Pennsylvania, the oldest child of 11 children of the late Michael and Dorothy Rokicsak.

Mrs. Goodrich graduated from St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburg in 1935. Her nursing career spanned over forty years with the last 20 years as Pediatric Nurse Manager at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler where the Pediatric Floor was named in her honor. After her retirement in 1984 she continued to volunteer at the hospital and made over 9000 "Boo Boo Bunnies" for the sick children.

She made her home in Troup where she was active in the Garden Club and school PTA while raising her three children. She was a member of The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler and Prince of Peace in Whitehouse.

She married Robert G. “Bob” Goodrich August 24, 1940, in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania. He preceded her in death September 22, 2001, following 61 years of marriage. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, George, Mike, Joe, John and Willie and her sisters, Mary and Rose.

Survivors include, two daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille and Tom Walsh, Austin and Roberta and Kenneth Moody, Plano; son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Karel Goodrich, Lakeland, Florida; brothers, Vincent Rokicsak, Clarksburg, Pennsylvania and Andrew Rokicsak, Binghamton, New York; sister, Dorothy Yencha, Ormond Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ken Moody, Tom Walsh, John VanVranken, Luke Cantu, Jim Carlyle and Joe Carlyle.

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, February 13.
