Class of 1912
Elizabeth Rockstaw and her brother, Fred, both born in New York, were found in the 1900 Federal Census residing in the Orphan Home of the Holy Savior in Cooperstown Village, Otsego County, New York. When Fred applied for a passport in 1919, he stated he had been born in Middleburgh, New York, and his deceased father was Henry, born in Bavaria.
Henry (Henrich) Rockstroh died on July 19, 1896. His wife was Antonie, and she died April 19, 1889. They are buried at Middleburgh Cemetery, Middleburgh, Schoharie County, New York. - Frederick later named his daughter Antonie.
"Elizabeth W. Rockstroh" is named in a 1922 history of the Pittsburgh Red Cross as a St. Francis nurse graduate who was "in active service with the American Expeditionary Forces and in the United States." She served in the Army Nurse Corps from February 20, 1918 until April 1, 1919. According to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Military Affairs, Elizabeth W. Rockstraw was born Jan 3, 1889 and she died January 21, 1974. She is buried at Long Island National Cemetery, and her name is given as Elizabeth Weise Rockstroh. Her birth year is stated as 1888.
Research indicates that Elizabeth, 42, and Frederick W., 45, had an sister, Margaret A. Rockstraw, 48, also a nurse. By 1930 the three siblings, all unmarried, all born in New York, were residing together on Elmer Street, Pittsburgh. Elizabeth was working at a hospital but her occupation was "technician nurses' training school." Margaret was employed as a nurse.
By 1940, Frederick was married and the two sisters lived together on South Dallas Avenue, Pittsburgh. Elizabeth's occupation was "Laboratory Technician Bacteriological Laboratories."

As stated, Elizabeth is buried at Long Island National Cemetery in New York. Her sister, Margaret, died in 1954 and she is buried in Middleburgh near her parents. Frederick died in 1951 in Virginia and he is buried in that state. The three had a brother, George, born in 1878, who died in 1954, and he is buried in Middleburgh.
