Obituary of Donna Rettinger Ritz-Carper


Donna M. (Rettinger) Ritz-Carper, 63, of Cranberry Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2012. Born June 17, 1948 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Daniel & Mathilda Bocek Rettinger. Donna was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Cranberry Twp. where she attended Mass daily and was a member of the Rosary group. She was a former member of St. Richards Catholic Church, Gibsonia where she was also a founding member. Donna was a 1966 graduate of Richland High School. She received her RN degree in 1968 from St. Francis School of Nursing, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) from California University in 1987 and was a Nursing Manager at West Penn Hospital. Donna was a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses, the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses and the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Sorority. She was also a member of the Duquesne Tamburitzans, volunteered for Gospa Missions and loved working outside in her garden. Donna is survived by her loving husband, Randall "Randy" Carper whom she married May 28, 2005; three children, Nicholas D. (Jeanine) Ritz of Virginia Beach, VA, Christopher (Erin) Ritz of Gibsonia, and Kathrine (Michael) Ritz-Plaxton of Belgium; 3 step-children, Kristi L. (Johnnie) James of Iowa, Todd R. Carper and Mark T. (fiancée, Megan Eckar) Carper, all of Gettysburg, PA; a sister Judith (Henry) Zapadka of Wexford; 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Kaleigh, Jacob, Natalie & Madeline Ritz, Elizabeth & Anna Ritz, Daniel Plaxton, Keira & Malorie James. Friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Monday and from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Tuesday at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Svcs., Inc., 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Wednesday, May 23rd at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066. Entombment will follow in Holy Savior Cemetery, Gibsonia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.
