High School in 1938 and the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing in 1941. Carolyn was very proud of her nursing career. Carolyn was active in several community projects; her primary interests were in her church, education and all cultured arts but her love and true commitment was always to her family. Carolyn loved to sing, play bridge, watch sports (particularly, WVU) and was always the best dressed at any event, including family dinners. She was also a wonderful cook and hostess and her flower garden always overflowed with color and her birdfeeders with life. Carolyn lived independently during the last years of her life and was able to stay at her home during the past year because of her loving and generous caregivers, Debby, Robin, Brianna, Janice, Rolanda, Jaime and Heather. During her 10 years in Winston-Salem Carolyn was a patient of Dr. Francis O'Brien. His loving care was invaluable and her family is forever grateful for the joy he brought her.
