Elizabeth R. Gia passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 15, 2007 at home with loved ones by her side.

Elizabeth enjoyed a full life and along her journey she helped and touched many souls. She was born on July 30, 1925 in Blairsville, Pennsylvania, one of 10 children. After graduating in 1946 with a nursing degree from Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she moved west to California. She was employed by Union Pacific Railroad in Bakersfield, CA, where she met and married Peter Gia. Her career as a registered nurse spanned many years, and she eventually retired from TRW in Redondo Beach, CA in 1995.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Debbie Gia and husband, Tom Niblick, Lisa Wintroub and husband, Greg, Gregory Gia and wife, Laura. Along with her children, she has five grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, and Nicole Wintroub, as well as Brandon and Ethan Gia. Elizabeth is also survived by her seven siblings, Anne Angelone, Margaret Protz, Paul Protz, Terry Falik, Vincent Protz, Helen Mireles, and Michael Protz. Elizabeth will be missed as our mother and friend, and was an inspiration to many. God Bless You Elizabeth!
