TIMMONSVILLE - Janet Pritchard Weaver, 78, died August 2, 2003, at her home after an illness. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Thomas G. and Magdalen Jewel Hahn Pritchard. She received her RN from Saint Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh and her B.S. from Francis Marion. She attended the University of S.C. in Columbia, where she received her Masters in Public Health. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps near the end of World War II. She retired from DHEC as Pee Dee District I Nursing Director.

She was a member of Lake Swamp Baptist Church.

She was first married to the late P.N. Weaver and her second marriage was to the late Woodrow Smith.

Surviving are a daughter, Ann Weaver Nichols of Timmonsville; a brother, Tom (Gloria) Pritchard of Florence and N. Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren, David Nichols and Matthew (Sonia) Nichols of Timmonsville and two nieces, Suzanne Pritchard and Elizabeth Pritchard.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at 11 o'clock at the Chapel of Layton-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lake Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m.
