The Evening Standard, Uniontown, Pa. - Feb 15, 1929 -- "Miss Dorothy Pope of Pittsburgh, a graduate nurse of the St. Francis hospital, Pittsburgh, returned to the city Wednesday after visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. [Nicholas, aka "Mike"] Pope of Continental No. 2, since Tuesday. Miss Pope came for the dance held Tuesday evening by St. Gregory's Choral society."

Dorothy Pope is found in on Continental No. 2 in the 1920 census of South Union, Fayette County, Pa. Her parents were Mike and Mary, both born in Austria, and her siblings were Mary, Anna, Joseph and Catherine. Mr. Pope was laborer in the Coke Plant.

In 1930, a recent nursing school graduate, Dorothy was living with other registered nurses on Friendship Avenue, near the St. Francis Hospital.

A marriage license for Walter Wacht and Dorothy Pope appeared in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Apr 29, 1931.

OBITUARY: Dorothy Lucille Wacht, 85, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Harmony Township, died Sunday, April 4, 1993, in the Frandiscan Villa, Broken Arrow, Okla. - Born Dec. 25, 1907, in Sherrick, Pa., a daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria Sinat Pope, she was a member of St. Veronica Roman Catholic Church, Ambridge. - She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Wacht, in November 1988. - Surviving are two sons, Walter Wacht, Tulsa, Okla., and Richard Wacht, Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary, Homestead, Pa. - Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Paul E. Bohn Funeral Home, 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a blessing service will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. - Interment will follow in St. Veronica Cemetery, Fair Oaks.

HUSBAND'S OBITUARY: Walter F. Wacht, 82, of 840 Elmer St., Harmony Township, died Monday evening, Nov. 21, 1988 in Sewickley Valley Hospital. - Born April 27, 1906 in Ambridge, a son of the late Frank and Barbara Wacht, he was a member of St. Veronica Roman Catholic Church, Ambridge, and was a retired plant works manger for AMPCO-Wychoff Steel Division, Ambridge, retiring in 1969. He was a lifelong member and past president of Ambridge Country Club and Ambridge Rotary. - Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Pope Wacht, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Wacht, Atlanta, Ga., and Walter and Joyce Wacht, Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson, and two sisters, Josephine Hall and Mrs. Mathilda Cross, both of Ambridge..... Interment in St. Veronica Cemetery, Fair Oaks.
