OBITUARY
Mary A. Pituch Wilkosz Was Nursing School Instructor
Mary A. Pituch Wilkosz, 86, 2301 Edinboro Road, formerly of Union City, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 29, 1916, in Bellview, Alberta, Canada, daughter of the late John C. and Regina Mazur Pituch.
She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1948. She worked as a registered nurse in Pittsburgh and Corry. She had been an instructor at the Hamot School of Nursing. Following her retirement, she worked on the family farm.
She was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a first lieutenant in the Nurse Corps in the Pacific Theater. She was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with one Bronze Star.
She was a member of St. Teresas Catholic Church in Union City and the American Legion LeBaron Post 237 in Union City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie P. Wilkosz, on Jan. 24, 1996; they were married June 17, 1950. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Pituch.
Survivors include two brothers, John Pituch and Ted Pituch, both of Erie; a sister, Helen Jaworski of Erie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
No calling hours will be observed. A Mass will be held at St. Teresa Church, 9 Third Ave., Union City, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. F. Thomas Suppa officiating.
Burial, with full military honors, will be at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Union City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Teresa Church Restoration Fund, 9 Third Ave., Union City, 16438.
