OBITUARY --- Sherman, Texas, Formerly of Pittsburgh - Mary Agnes Tocquigny, 84, of Sherman, Texas, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003. The former Pittsburgh resident was a kind and caring person who made her mark on this country as a nurse, mother, wife, friend and patriotic citizen. She was born June 4, 1918, in Fredericktown to John and Lillian Petrick. She received her formal education at St. Francis Nurses School in Pittsburgh and upon graduation joined the Air Force Flight Nurses Program in 1943. As a World War II veteran holding the rank of first lieutenant, she completed more than 1,500 flight hours nursing transferred soldiers of the Pacific Theater back to Hawaii. She married George Tocquigny on Sept. 19, 1947, in Carrizo Springs, Texas, and they moved to Sherman in 1950. In 1962, she returned to her nursing career at Wilson N. Jones Hospital and in 1966 joined the Sherman I.S.D. At her retirement in 1989, she was recognized for her "constant care and love for the children of Sherman." She also had a lifetime passion for cooking and floriculture. She was an active member of the Sherman Garden Club and as a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church she was active in the Altar and Women's guilds. Mary is survived by her husband; sister Anne Gregory of McKeesport; brother John Petrick Jr. of Clarksville, Pa.; children Suzanne Key of Arlington, Texas, George Alan Tocquigny of Castle Rock, Colo., Dennis Tocquigny of Driggs, Idaho, and Rick Tocquigny of Lafayette, Colo. She also is survived by seven grandchildren, daughters-in-law Karen Tocquigny and Carla Tocquigny and son-in-law Otis R. Key. A military funeral service and celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the WALDO FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, Sherman.
