Adele Petraitis served attained the rank of captain in Army Nurse Corps, U. S. Army, World War II.

In 1966, Adele Petraitis was on the nursing faculty at McKeesport Hospital and she was the secretary of the District Number 6, Pennsylvania Nurses' Association.

Adele R. Petraitis, born November 13, 1905, died April 27, 2000. The Adele Petraitis Endowed Scholarship was established by her estate to benefit undergraduate students at Duquesne University "enrolled in the School of Nursing who meet the need and merit requirements."
