OBITUARY

TURMAN Cleo Kathryn Orndoff, born July 6 in Elmira, N.Y., went to be with her Lord June 24, 1999.

Cleo was raised in Pittsburgh, PA, the only child of the late Robert David Orndoff and Goldie Marie Cumberledge Orndoff. She attended James E. Rogers School and graduated with honor from Peabody High School. Cleo was active in school activities; was Head Majorette; and Rainbow Girls. She graduated from Saint Francis School of Nursing. She then moved to Oklahoma and resided in Choctaw, OK until her death. Cleo continued her education at OCU, OSU & Century University, receiving her BA, MA & Ph. D. Her nursing career lasted several years which included acute care, OB supervisor, public health and RN Administrator/Pediatric Nurse Associate for theOklahoma City Head Start Program.

She then expanded her career with the State Offices of OEO, DECA, ODOC & OESC. During this time she developed, implemented, supervised, monitored & evaluated federal programs. She was active in the City of Choctaw Redistricting Committee and also served on the Federal Regional Health Task Force Committee on Children & Youth; US Department of Labor Independent Advisory Group for OK; first female appointed by Senator Bob Funston to the State Governor's Employment and Training council; and presented a Performance Award by The E/T ad ministration of the US Department of Labor, Dallas, TX.

Other organizations included the American/State Nurses Association; Treasurer for the American Business Women's Association and The Choctaw Creek Ladies' Golf Association. She enjoyed golf, bridge, music, travel and various outdoor sports. Her love for family and animals was exceptional.

She was a longtime faithful member of Texas Baptist and Woods Community Baptist Churches wher e she served as pianist for several Years.

She is survived by her daughter Crystal Lynn Turman, Choctaw; mother, Goldie Orndoff, OKC; a cousin Terry A. Czitterberg of Apollo, PA.

Friends may call at Vondel Smith Mortuary (South) where services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tues. June 29, 1999 at the South Colonial Chapel with interment at Arlington Memory Gardens.
