MARGARET "MADGE" KEARNS O'CONNOR

On April 19, 1904, in Allegheny County, Margaret Kearns, born in Scotland on September 4, 1880, and residing at McKees Rocks, married John H. O'Connor, born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on May 21, 1876, and residing in McKees Rocks. He was employed as a woodworker.

John and Madge had a son, Raymond V. O'Connor, in January 1905.

John H. O'Connor died of peritonitis, related to appendicitis, on March 7, 1907. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh.

At the time of the 1910 Federal Census, Madge O'Connor, 27, single, born in Scotland, immigrated in 1890, was a Pupil Nurse at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing.

The 1920 census finds Madge O'Connor, 32, a widow, living on Friendship Avenue, Pittsburgh, employed as a nurse. She immigrated in 1898 and became a naturalized citizen in 1905.

In 1930, Madge O'Connor, a widow, age 46, was residing at South Millvale Avenue with her son, Raymond, age 24, born in Pennsylvania. Madge was born in Scotland and immigrated in 1887. She was a trained nurse, employed at a hospital.

Raymond V. O'Connor, born January 23, 1905, in McKees Rocks, got married for the second time in 1945. He stated that his father, deceased, was John O'Connor. His mother, living, was Madge, maiden name Kearns. He died in 1952 and his death record indicates his mother was Margaret Kearns. He is buried at St. George Cemetery, Carrick. His widow was Grace.

The death of Margaret "Madge" Kearns O'Connor, Nurse, occurred from cardiac failure at Kane Hospital, Pittsburgh, on October 8, 1960. The information on her death record was provided by a woman named Mrs. Grace Woodruff, possibly her deceased son's remarried wife. Madge's birth year is given as 1882, not 1881, and Madge's parents are named as Phillip Kearns and Margaret McPhillips. Madge is buried at St. George Cemetery, Carrick.
