OBITUARY: Jean E. Neidig, 76, of Kittanning, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at ACMH Hospital. - She was born November 12, 1939 in Lewistown, PA, the daughter of Harry A. and Regina G. (Dowling) Neidig. - Jean lived in Kittanning for most of her life and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1957. She earned her nursing diploma from the St. Francis General Hospital School of Nursing in 1960 and worked at the hospital as a nurse until 1967. Jean then began working at ACMH Hospital as a nurse in the ICU and finishing in quality management. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from La Roche College in 1991 and retired from ACMH in 2003. Nursing was her life's calling and she loved caring for her patients. Jean was also active in various nursing organizations. - Jean was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served multiple terms on the Kittanning Borough Council. She was an avid Steelers fan and in her free time enjoyed traveling, especially the trip to Australia she shared with her sister, Jane. Jean's sweet personality and caring nature will be greatly missed by those who knew her. - She will be remembered with love by her brothers, Harry A. Neidig and wife, Carol, of Kittanning, and Walter D. Neidig, of Hilliard, OH; sister, Jane A. Neidig, of Kittanning; nephews, Darby Neidig and wife, Jan, of Pittsburgh, Colby Neidig and wife, Amanda, of Pittsburgh, Shelby Neidig, of Wexford, and Michael Neidig and wife, Amanda, of Logan, UT; niece, Tristy Thorpe and husband, John, of Kunkletown, PA; and multiple great-nieces and great-nephews. - She was preceded in death by her parents. - Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning. - Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl A. Johnson officiating. - Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA. Contributions can be made in Jean's honor to the ACMH Foundation, One Nolte Dr., Kittanning, PA 16201.
