Sylvia J. Nanni was born on November 11, 1917 in Bari, Italy to Joseph Nanni and Madaline (Maddelena) Radogna. Her siblings were Julia, Mike, Frances, and Tony, found in the 1940 Federal Census of Clairton, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Mr. Nanni was a pipefitter helper at Carnegie Steel.

Sylvia married Walter Adam "Butch" Winger and they lived in Ontario, Canada. Their four daughters are Madelyn (Lynne), Susan, Mary Anne, and Joanne.

The death of Sylvia Nanni Winger occurred on October 31, 2005 at Welland County, Ontario, Canada. According to her daughter, she was cremated. Her husband died in 2005.
