In 1930, she was a lodger on Friendship Avenue, Pittsburgh, and employed as a registered nurse in a hospital.

In the 1940 census, Anna, a Trained Nurse employed at a government hospital, was living on Freeport Road, Blawknox, with her brother, William, and sister, Mary. She is also listed in the 1940 census of the Veterans' Hospital, Aspinwall, where she was a staff nurse.

Nurse Anna R. Murphy, a resident of Blawknox, Allegheny County, died on June 24, 1961 at St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh. She is buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
