HUSBAND'S OBITUARY: Thomas Martin Allsup died Jan. 22, 2005, at Travis Air Force Base, David Grant Medical Center, of respiratory failure following recent surgery. He was 63 years old. - Thomas was born to Richard and Eva Allsup in Harrisburg, Pa. He attended local schools, graduating from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1959. Tom became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1968. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Air Force in 1989, completing 21 years of service to his country. He married Doris Jean Moran in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1966. They raised a family of three daughters while being stationed in Illinois, Michigan, New York, California, Missouri and Spain. Following his wife's retirement from the Air Force in 2001, they settled in Vacaville. Tom was an avid photographer and wood craftsman. He loved "puttering" in his back yard and enjoyed the beauty of nature. - Tom is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen Allsup Booker and Cecilia Allsup. - He is survived by Doris Allsup, his loving wife of 38 years; his children, Robert Smith of Afton, Va., Andrea Allsup of Santa Clarita, Julia Allsup of San Diego, and Karen Allsup of Long Beach. He is further survived by sisters, Henrietta Winfield of Washington, D.C., Margaret Allsup of Washington D.C., Eileen Washington of Steelton, Pa., Elizabeth McPherson of Philadelphia, Pa., Frances Allsup of Atlanta, Ga., and Rosemary Allsup of Morriston, Fla.; brothers, Richard Allsup Jr. of Harrisburg, Pa., John Charles Allsup of Middletown, Pa., and C. Michael Allsup of Harrisburg, Pa.; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. - A memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Vincent O'Reilly at St. Joseph's Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. - Tom will be affectionately remembered by all of his love of life and family; his energy and optimism in the face of adversity and myriad wonderful ways in which he touched the lives of so many. - Memorial donations may be made to Bishop McDevitt High School, 2200 Market St., Harrisburg, PA, 17103-2499. -- Published in The Reporter from Jan. 25 to Jan. 30, 2005.
