Mary E. Miller, born October 2, 1896, was the daughter of Michael Miller and Anna Dolak. The family is found in the 1910 Federal Census of Hempfield, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, at which time the father was a coal miner. According to the record, "Mike" and Anna were both born in Austria Slovenia. The children, all born in Pennsylvania, were Suzie, 16, Mary, 12, John, 10, Annie, 7, Mike, Jr., 6, Joseph, 4, Julia, 1 year 2 months.
The Millers had another daughter, Margaret, born in 1911. A son, George, was born on April 22, 1915, and he died October 23, 1917, at which time they lived at Adamsburg, Westmoreland County. The father, Mike, also died in 1917. According to his death record, he died suddenly of heart failure on June 1, 1917. The two are buried at Irwin Catholic Cemetery, Westmoreland County.
Mary E. Miller was not found in the 1920 census.
In the 1930 census, Mary E. Miller, 32, a hospital nurse, lived at 223 South Mathilda Street with Genevieve Dreistadt, a hospital nurse, as well as a fellow graduate of the St. Francis Class of 1919.
Mary E. Miller and Genevieve Dreistadt, 4761 Liberty Ave Pittsburgh, are named in the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing list of Registered Nurses for 1940-1941.
In the 1940 census, Mary Miller, 44, was still at 4761 Liberty Avenue, and her roommate was still Genevieve Dreistadt. Genevieve moved elsewhere before January 1942.
Mary E. Miller's mother, Anna Miller, a widow, was living at 4761 Liberty Avenue at the time of her death on July 19, 1948. Her death record indicates that she was born December 19, 1872 in Austria, her maiden name was Dolak, and her husband was Michael. She is buried at Irwin Catholic Cemetery, Westmoreland County. Mary E. Miller provided the death record information.
The 1956 Pittsburgh City Directory lists Mary E. Miller, Nurse, 4761 Liberty Avenue.

NEESON (nee Miller), 95, of Elyria, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Center Ridge Nursing Home, in North Ridgeville after a long illness. - Born in Pennsylvania, she had been a resident of Elyria since 1941. - A homemaker, she was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria and its Altar and Rosary Society, the St. Mary's Seniors group, the office of Older Adults and the Senior Center of the United Methodist Home. - Survivors include a daughter, Judith Anne Rothernel of Elyria; a grandson, Timothy Rothernel; granddaughter, Kristen LlaRocco; and three great-grandchildren. - She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Neeson, in 1976; sisters Mary Miller, Margaret Lavelle, Ann McAlpine and Susan Detruff; four brothers, John, Michael, Joseph and George Miller and her parents Anna (nee DOLAK) Miller.....
