MARY JANE McNAMARA NELSON MYERS

Mary Jane McNamara Nelson Myers, 88, of Longwood, Fla., died February 2, 2005 after a brief illness. She was born September 24, 1916, in Emlenton, to the late John and Alice McNamara. She graduated from Emlenton High School, where she lettered in basketball. She received nursing accreditation from the St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh. She worked most of her life as a psychiatric nurse in both Warren and Florida. She had been a resident of Longwood, Fla. for the past four years. She was an avid and accomplished bridge player and made friends who shared her passion wherever she resided. She also faithfully completed the New York Times crossword puzzles, not only daily, but her favorite, the Sunday magazine puzzle as well. She enjoyed playing golf until the past few years, when she resorted to watching champions compete in major tournaments on television. Her love and devotion to her family was her greatest joy and legacy. Surviving are her four children, Mrs. Barbara Olsen, Warren; Richard Nelson, Warren; Joan Nelson, Winter Park, Fla. and Mark Nelson, Apex, N.C.; nine grandchildren, including Sharon Olsen McGraw, Sanda Olsen Brink, Laurie Nelson and Amy Nelson, all originally from from Warren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Stuart G. Nelson, of Warren and her second husband, Stuart J. Myers, of Warren and Pampano Beach, Fla. A celebration of her life was conducted at the home of her daughter, Joan Nelson, in Winter Park, Fla., on Saturday February 5, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2005 at St. Joseph's Church in Warren, Pa. with Rev. Packard, priest of St. Joseph's Parish officiating. Committal is scheduled to follow in the St. Joseph's mausoleum. Mary Jane's mother's maiden name was Alice Sullivan. In 1920, Alice, a widow, and Mary Jane, were living in Beaver County with Alice's brothers - Sullivans. In 1930, they were living in Emlenton, Venango County, with Alice's widowed father, and two of his grandsons.
