Class of 1914
A news article about the St. Francis graduating Class of 1914 states that this graduate was "Mary M. McKinley, Wheeling, W.Va."
The Wheeling City Directory, 1911, finds Miss Mary McKinley, Nurse, 109 Main. That was the address of the Sisters of St. Joseph's Wheeling Hospital. Two other Wheeling Hospital nurses, Mary DeWitt and Gertrude Voellinger, present at the 109 Main Street location in 1910 and 1911, received formal training and graduated from the School of Nursing at St. Francis in 1913.
Mary M. McKinley graduated in 1914. In 1916, a news article in a nursing journal indicates that Mary Margaret McKinley was elected secretary of the St. Francis School of Nursing Alumnae Association.
Pittsburgh City Directory, 1917: Mary McKinley, Nurse, 4603 1/2 Liberty Avenue.
In 1920, David B. Dublin, 28, and Mary M., 26, were living with his widowed aunt, Bridget D. Dublin, in Munhall, Allegheny County. David was a salesman for a mill supply company. The census indicates that Mary was born in Ohio, her father in Scotland, and her mother in Ohio.
By 1930, still living with David's aunt in Munhall, David and Mary had a five year old daughter, Catherine B. This time, Mary's place of birth is stated as West Virginia, her father's as Scotland, and her mother's, West Virginia. The child may be the one in this article.
Soon after that 1930 census, Mary Margaret McKinley Dublin was dead. She died of a Coronary Embolus on July 14, 1930, at the age of 38. She is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery, Homestead (St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery).
According to her death record, she was born October 23, 1891 in Bridgeport, Belmont County, Ohio, which is a short distance across a bridge from Wheeling, West Virginia. It names her parents as Charles McKinley and Anna Davis. The information was given by the husband, but is somewhat incorrect. She was born November 14, 1892 in Belmont County, Ohio, according to her Baptismal Certificate, and her parents were Peter McKinley and Anna Davis, married in Bridgeport in 1890. In the 1900 census, Mary McKinley and her sister, Annie McKinley, born in May 1896, were living with their maternal grandparents, Michael and Susannah Davis, in Bridgeport, Ohio.
David Blair Dublin, age 44, died in Pittsburgh on December 19, 1935 of Broncho Pneumonia. The son of Henry A. Dublin and Margaret Kelly, he is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
In the 1940 census, Catherine Dublin, 14, was a lodger in the residence of the Christ P. Franciscus family. Mr. Franciscus was a Fire Station Captain.
