ELIZABETH A. McGANN DRAKE

Class of 1963

Elizabeth Ann “Bibben” McGann Drake passed away with loved ones by her side on May 21, 2023, following an extended illness. She was born on April 28, 1942 to the late John and Kathleen McGann. She graduated in 1960 from Notre Dame High School. She went on to obtain a degree in nursing from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1963 and her Master’s from Salem University with a specialization in wound care and infectious disease. She was in charge of the wound care clinic at the VA Hospital where she was employed as a nurse for her entire career. She was very passionate about her job and helping others, and enjoyed mentoring fellow nurses along the way. Upon retirement, Elizabeth would spend 8 months in Florida, where she enjoyed riding bikes, dancing, and spending time with her beloved friends and 4 months in Audra, West Virginia where she would spend time with family hiking, laughing, and having fun.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother John Pat McGann. She is survived by her four children Robert Drake, Teresa Sears and partner Doug Coffman, Stacy Bastin and husband Paul Bastin, and Erin Drake. All of whom she was very proud of. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Nancy and husband Bill Renzelli and Mary Jo Greaver, whom she shared a special bond with, as well as several nieces and nephews that she adored. Elizabeth has 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren that will miss her dearly.

As were her wishes, she will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held later this summer for friends and family to come together to remember the good times and joy that Elizabeth brought to so many. She will be remembered as an independent, hardworking, and loving woman and will be greatly missed.
