OBITUARY: Alice Gease was born in Lewes, Delaware to the proud parents of George and Irene Matthews, on May 9, 1935. She was the second of seven children. - Alice was one of the first black nurses to attend and graduate from Saint Francis Nursing School in Pittsburgh, Pa. Over the course of her career, she worked at Chicago Osteopathic in Chicago, IL; and Montefiore Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital both in Pittsburgh. She held the positions of Night Supervisor, Charge Nurse, Head Nurse, and Chemotherapy Nurse. - Surviving are her son, Francis A. Wilson of Monroeville,PA,; two sisters, Mary Hutchinson of Penn Hills, PA, and Judith Dawson of Woodbridge, VA; and one brother, Bronny Matthews of Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews. - Alice loved to give and was never more happy than when she was entertaining friends and family in her home. - Alice Gease was a faithful member of Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church for many years. - Alice touched many lives.
