At the time of the 1940 Federal Census, Florence Master, 19, was a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital. She stated that her home in 1935 was St. Petersburg, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.
In 1930, Florence had lived in St. Petersburg with her parents, Charles and Mary J. (Logue) Master, and a newborn sister, Betty.
Florence K. Master served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II, between February 1, 1943 and February 4, 1946. When she applied for Veteran Compensation in 1950, she was married and resided in Encino, California.
On November 17, 1948, at Mercer, Pennsylvania, Florence K. Master, a nurse, age 27, married Peter E. Kanonchoff, a student, age 31.
OBITUARY: Florence Katherine “Kate” Kanonchoff, 95, of Saint Petersburg, died Thursday morning, September 29, 2016 at Parker Personal Care. - Kate was born in Saint Petersburg on November 22, 1920 and was the daughter of Charles K. and Mary J. Logue Master. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Saint Petersburg and graduated from St. Petersburg-Richland High School in 1939 and the Saint Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh in 1942. - Kate was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a nurse in North Africa and the South Pacific during WWII. - She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter E. Kanonchoff who died in 1970. - She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sonja and Dean Shoup, of Saint Petersburg, two nieces and a nephew. In addition to her parents and husband, Kate was preceded in death by two children and two sisters, Jane Baum and Frances Fair. - Private arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home Inc. in Saint Petersburg.
