Leoneda Mary Marzocchi was born on May 14, 1911 in Pontremoli, Italy to Vittorio Marzocchi and Ermelinda Bergamaschi.
From a list of Pennsylvania Registered Nurses, 1940-1941, published by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners: "Leoneda Mary Marzocchi, 320 S. Matilda St., Pittsburgh."
She married Dr. Nicholas G. Amato in 1941.
Leoneda's husband, a native of Cincinnati, was a flight surgeon during World War II. From an article in a Cincinnati newspaper, dated February 21, 1944: "Nicholas G. Amato, husband of Mrs. Leoneda Amato, 2106 Harrison Avenue, Westwood, has been promoted from First Lieutenant to Captain at Nashville, Tenn., where he is Flight Surgeon of the Twentieth Ferrying Group of the Air Transport Command. Captain Amato had offices with Dr. J. T. Clear, MD at 1624 Freeman Avenue before being called to active duty in September 1942." He died February 28, 1988.
