Mary Frances Markley, born on April 15, 1880 in Enes Gray, Massachusetts, was the daughter of Dennis "Frank" Markley, born in Nova Scotia, and Mary Gilmartin.

Mr. Markley is mistakenly named Charles in the 1900 Federal Census of Cambria County.

In 1910, the family lived in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. The children of Dennis F. Markley, a steel mill laborer, and his wife in 1910 were Mary, 29, a grocery store clerk; Rose, 24; William, 23, Donald, 21.

Mrs. Mary Gilmartin Markley died of gangrene of her right hand, related to diabetes, on February 13, 1916.

In 1920, Frank D. Markley, born in Nova Scotia, was a widower, with only daughter, Rose H., 34, in the home. Mr. Markley is listed as a laborer in a mill. Rose graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1929.

The father, "D. Frank Markley," died in Johnstown on June 25, 1927. He and his wife are buried at St. Columbas (Lower Yoder Cemetery) in Johnstown.

Miss Mary Frances Markley, Registered Nurse, died on September 20, 1953, age 73. She was admitted to Woodville State Hospital, Allegheny Clounty, more than 4 and a half years earlier, and she had a stroke almost two weeks prior to her death. She is buried at St. John's Cemetery, Johnstown.
