OBITUARY: Virginia "Jeannie" Mancuso, age 95, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at UPMC Hamot. Born in Erie, May 9, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Theresa (Gigliotti) Mancuso. - Virginia graduated from Academy High School, attended Erie Commercial College, and graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She later specialized in pediatric nursing and graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in nursing and Gannon College with a Master's in Education for guidance and counseling. She worked as a nurse for the Erie School District for 24 years until her retirement. During many summers, she also acted as the nurse at Camp Notre Dame. - Jeannie was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Church. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Florida as well as the casinos in Las Vegas. She also was active in Zonta and the Italian American Women's Association. - Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Marie Meehan. - Survivors include her brother, Peter Mancuso, wife Mildred of Summit Twp.; two nephews, Mike and Tom Meehan; four nieces, Theresa Ahlbrandt, husband Gary, Diane Horneman, husband Deacon Edward, Linda Lochbaum, husband Harry, and Janet Correll; a great nephew, Derek Mancuso; and many cousins. - Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m., at St. Paul's R.C.
