NORA MALONEY FRIEND

*Nora (Honora) A. Maloney was born on March 22, 1904 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Patrick Maloney, born in London, England, and Mary Elizabeth O'Mahoney, born in Wales. Nora's siblings, all older, were John, Cornelius, Catherine, Charles, Mary E., Joseph and Jeremiah P., Jr.

The mother, Mary Elizabeth, died of Lobar Pneumonia on July 9, 1909. She is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Jeremiah later married her younger sister, Anna O'Mahoney. He died on January 7, 1924 at St. Francis Hospital.

Nora married Charles Tod Friend, and they moved to California in 1939. Nora died on August 7, 1944 in San Bernardino. She is buried at Mountain View Cemetery, San Bernardino County, California. Her husband remarried, and his death occurred in 1990.

*Confirmation needed: A news article in a Pittsburgh paper names the graduates of the Class of 1927. Nora is "Nora Malone, 1031 Herron Ave." The Alumni Association lists her as Nora Maloney. An obit in the San Bernardino paper does not mention her being a trained nurse. - Nora's sister, Katherine Chalmers, lived on Herron Avenue in 1920.
