OBITUARY: Lois Anne Mahoney died peacefully in Austin, TX, on February 27, 2023, having previously lived in Moon Township, PA, and West Palm Beach, FL. She and her twin sister, Audrey, were born on August 25, 1933, in Baden, PA. Lois was 89 and had Alzheimer's disease. She was predeceased by her parents, Townsend Louis and Catherine Anne (Kolar) Mahoney; and her former husband, Thomas Orlovsky.

She is deeply missed and survived by her daughter, Joy Dumas in TX; her son, Kirk Orlovsky in FL, her son, Keith Orlovsky (Beth) in PA; and her daughter, Laurel Akers in KY. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Eric, Kevin, Keith, Justin (Jordan), Andrew (Jamie), Erin and Linsey. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert (Ruth) Mahoney, Emily (Rudy) Puhalla, and her twin, Audrey Adrian, all of PA; and her dear friends Mary Lengyel of PA, Mary Alice Stepaniak, Andrea Schecter, Marilyn, Geri and Avis all of FL.

Lois graduated from Ambridge High School in 1951 and St. Francis School of Nursing in 1954. While she enjoyed being a registered nurse that cared for her patients, traveling as a nurse also provided her opportunities to work in Saudi Arabia, converse in Arabic and ride a camel in Egypt. She traveled to Florida as a private duty nurse and enjoyed the sand and sun so much she moved there in 1983 and never looked back for a snowflake. She loved Florida!

Lois loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her church, Faith Presbyterian Church in Palm Springs, FL. She was a born-again faithful Christian that freely forgave others as she was forgiven. She was compassionate toward others, helping those in need as she could. Her kids and grandkids have special memories of her unusual and quirky expressions. She was happy to be anywhere and could easily chat with strangers. She was always eager to speak Spanish as often as she could, having learned the language in high school.

In the late 1960s she and a small group of women formed the Moon Lassie League for girls' softball which she coached and umpired for several years. She became a Master Gardener, learned Latin plant names and volunteered for over ten years at the Mounts Botanical Gardens in FL. It thrilled her to watch plants grow! She loved to create holiday decorations and pinecone wreaths. She would surprise herself with the beauty of what she would create. Lois would play the piano and sing hymns that blessed us all.

Lois was kind, humble, generous, and hardworking. She was an avid reader and had an extensive vocabulary. She loved to dance, sing in the choir, play pinochle and backgammon, make fudge, and watch Pirates baseball. She woke up happy and grateful! She was a free spirit with a childlike innocence about life that was captivating and an inspiration to us!

We love you and miss you, MOM! Thank you for always telling us that you loved us.

A Memorial Service will be held in FL, in October, to celebrate her life, and her ashes will be scattered in the Atlantic Ocean.
