OBITUARY - Alice M. (Mack) Southward, 87, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care, Mt. Joy. She was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Harrison Township, daughter of the late Louis J. and Ann E. (Gamer) Mack Sr. Alice lived in Lancaster the past seven years, and prior to that, Natrona Heights. She was a registered nurse in private practice in the Natrona Heights area for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights, and a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph High School and the former St. Francis School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, in 1950. She worked for Allegheny Valley Hospital, George F. Edmonston, MD, and William A. Gillinger, MD, and Valley Family Practice Center. Alice enjoyed crocheting and many, many family and friends have been the recipients of her afghans. Another favorite was traveling to Lake Erie and the beach at both the Jersey Shore and Myrtle Beach, N.C. Survivors include her son, William W. (Sue) Southward Jr., of Lancaster; grandchildren, Dominique Ansani, Katie Ansani, Jamie Wall and Michael Southward; step-grandchildren, Jillian and Joseph Fittipaldi and Kristina Furner; and 12 (and three quarters) great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Colette Ansani, Sept. 2, 2005; and a brother, Louis Mack. - Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 347 E. Tenth Ave., Tarentum. Christian funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11a.m. Friday in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights. Burial will be in Mt.
