According to Find-a-Grave, Mary was better known as Evelyn Mae.

She was listed as Evelyn M. in the 1930 Federal Census as the daughter of Vincent Lombardo, a widower born in Italy, and the owner of a tailor shop. The mother, Ella Robson Lombardo, born in Canada in 1872, died in Elk County on October 28, 1928.

From a list of Pennsylvania Registered Nurses, 1940-1941, published by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners: "Mary Evelyn Lombardo, St. Francis Nurses Home, Pittsburgh." Her license was last renewed in 2002.

During World War II, between June 1, 1942 and February 7, 1946, Mary, born July 15, 1915, served in the Army Nurse Corps. At the time of her application for Veteran Compensation in 1950, she was a resident of St. Marys, Elk County, Pennsylvania. She was awarded a Bronze Star.

Mary E. Lombardo passed away on September 29, 2003, at age 88. She is interred at the Saint Mary's Cemetery in Elk County.
