McCarty, 68, of Cross Creek Village, Cross Creek Township, died at 5:32 a.m. Sunday, September, 6, 1998, in Washington Hospital. She was born February 14, 1930, in Sturgeon, a daughter of Aloysius and Margaret H. Lutes Kessler. Mrs. McCarty was a member of Cross Creek Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir. On June 3, 1967, in Winchester, Va., she married Wilson Dean McCarty, who survives in Cross Creek Village. Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Lynn McCarty Houser of State College; a sister, Ferna Squires of Warden, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and cousins and one grandnephew. Deceased are two sisters, Freda, who died in 1994, and Maria, who died in 1991.
